Can I substantially block the odor of my flatulence if I sew a HEPA filter into my undershorts?

WAIT! Don’t report this Q! This is a serious question. I am in business selling vacuum cleaners and air purifiers with HEPA filters. These filters are efficient enough to remove odors and fumes from the air, so can HEPA enabled undershorts really be far off? You better not steal my idea…

why would you want to block the odor of flatulence? half the fun is in the odor, the other half is the busting ass sound. if it aint broke, dont fix it. lol

This is an excellent question. I have never thought about this but it is worthy of consideration.
I don’t think HEPA would be helpful here. The molecules that cause the flatulence related odor have to be way to tiny to be trapped by any filter that modern technology has produced.
Dust or pet dander is something substantial that can be trapped by HEPA, but not intestinal gas.
Good thought though.

With somethin like that us men won’t have to change our underwear more than once or twice a year.
How do you plan on sitting down in those shorts?
If you make a filter thin and light enough to sit on and to allow movement then it won’t be a very good filter and I doubt it can qualify for a HEPA filter.
The HEPA filter is a sandwich of a series of randomly aligned filters with small cells in them that catch the particles. These filters create an air pressure backup. This is good because it allows the free particles to be jammed into the filter where they will stick, but if you put pressure on the bag then you will squeeze out that air pressure (in a sound that might sound just like a fart).
Besides there aren’t particles in a fart that make it smell so objectable, there are gases of chemical compounds. So instead of trying to capture the particles (that aren’t there) find some way to neutralize the chemicals in the gases the make it smell so foul.
These chemicals are keytones and esters. In the lab we combine specific gases to create the esters that produce an artificial scent in so many of the things we use and eat. If you turn to chemistry then maybe your could find a chemical that can be impregnated into the shorts that either acts as an air freshener or neutralize the worse odors.
You don’t need my notes below, but others reading this question might.
Maybe you should design a under-short with the heapa filter already intact. Try it out on yourself to see if it works.Get your friends involved in your research also take it to your boss and introduce the new product to him or her..I am sure that hepa would take a cut on your new product as hepa filters have a Patton. I think I would think this thing through thoroughly. I sure would hate to see you get sued…….loss your job.
And with all due respect, I do not think anyone is going to steal your idea……………………………To many legality’s here, in another words to many Gray areas.

well, blocking the odor is no use, if you don’t want people to know you fart, think of something that can block the sound.

you know you aint right!!! HEPA only works on dust particles and pet dander–NOT the chemicals that are in poots!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! It would be nice if you made some drawers that release a nice, pleasant fragrance when you poot, cause some of those poots have been know to burn nose hairs!!! (By the way, you can steal this idea with my blessing! Ha! Ha! Ha!)
I thought you were one of those "Rico" types until I read the rest of your question.
I would say that this is a bit far fetched at this time, but if YOU manage to get a prototype, you might want to go to Japan to promote it. People really buy interesting personal hygiene gadgets and you might find a company quickly.
And if you do get it built, I will buy the first one (as long as it was $1k and under) for Mark!
Yep, this may seem like a silly question to others, but there was a man that developed an underwear with filters already in them. His wife had….I think Crohn’s disease or something that causes hefty flatulence. Anyway, I looked it up on the web, and sure enough, you can buy them. Around $20-25 pair and filters are replaceable.
While you are at it why don’t you sew a muffler to your a**?
why don’t you sell that idea to NBC?
