My Dyson emits odor – need new HEPA filter??

I love the suction on my Dyson vacuum cleaner, but in the last week it started emitting an unpleasant odor (not burning, just dirty). I’ve cleaned out the canister thoroughly, but there is still smelly air coming out when it’s on. Do I need to replace the HEPA filter?

i work for a retail store that sells dyson. the dyson rep comes in all the time to answer questions from people. that is one of the questions that was asked last time he was there. you need to clean the filter out every 3 monthes at least. i also suggest that you take a duster and clean the cylinder. if you clean the vaccuum regularly it will last you a very long time. if all else fails and the smell still exists get in touch with dyson. there has been times where they have actually sent a rep to peoples homes to find out what is wrong. good luck.
WASH the filter!! and allow a long time ie a day for it to dry as it is a dense material! you should remove filter regularly and at least give it a whack against something…outside up wind! to remove buildup! and i suggest 3monthly washing.
