Should I buy a refurbished Dyson DC-17 Animal?
We found one for 200 bucks. So far I have seen great reviews with a smattering of negative ones. I am looking for a highly effective vacuum that is easy to maneuver over my berber carpet, laminate wood floors, area rugs, and tiles. I prefer a quiet one as well (at least – not a loud one).
Anyone out there tried one of these? Thanks!

I have the Dyson DC-17 Animal. It is amazing on carpet. I used it at my mom’s house after she vacuumed with her really nice vacuum and I picked up a lot that she missed. I really like it because of how great it cleans the carpet. We bought it brand new and it was way more then I will ever spend on a vacuum again but so far it has been worth it. However, we recently bought a house that only has one room of carpet and the rest of the house is tile and hardwood and It really doesn’t work so well on the hard floors. Maybe I just haven’t figured out how to use it on these floors yet but it is great on carpet. It isn’t really a loud vacuum, I’ve had louder but considering it is a vacuum, it still does make noise. The day they make a silent vacuum, I’m buying! If you have any other questions you can email me though the profile page, feel free to ask. I’ve had it for a few years and I do love it.
i recomend the dyson dc 21,
i have one and its brilliant. has a special carpert head that picks up so much crap other cleaners leave behind.
we have a pinkish red carpert in the bedrooms. the carpert can look totally clean and run it over the carpert and you can pick up at least half a supermarket bag of fluff and dust even when the carpert is clean.
the carpert is thickish but not with a shaggy pile or anything. it also works brilliantally on the hard floors (we only have carpert in the 5 bedrooms, everywhere else is tile).
